Joel hosts and produces local public affairs on-air programming on Closer Look for 40+ K-LOVE and Air1 radio stations in Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas. In the past, he’s also been heard on stations all across the USA.

Prior to joining K-LOVE and Air1 in 2010, Joel worked for 12 years at radio stations in Kansas City and Oklahoma City.

He’s also a sportswriter and sports broadcaster. Joel has covered high school, small college and minor league sports since the mid-1990s for a handful of radio stations and newspapers in Oklahoma and Indiana.

Joel currently does play-by-play for Oklahoma City University baseball.

He also operates West Metro Sports, a sports news site focusing on high school athletics.

In the spring and summer, Joel works in a behind-the-scenes role with the Oklahoma City Baseball Club minor league team, inputting game statistics and sometimes serving as the official scorer.

He also co-hosted a statewide high school football scoreboard show “Friday Night Finals” on the Oklahoma News Network from 2017-2022 and he hosted “High School GameNight” on WWLS The Sports Animal from 2001-2005 and 2015-2016.

Joel finds it odd to write in third person.
